1. Start in Center with a key word or idea.
2. Put box around this node.Use images, symbols, or words for nodes.
3. Select key words.Keep the key words names of nodes as simple and short as possible.
4. Associate nodes should be connected with lines to show affinities.
5. Make the lines the same length as the word or image that they support.
6. Use emphasis such as thicker lines to show the strength of associations.
7. Use radical arrangement of nodes.
